My name is Lydia Denker. I was born in Germany in 1980 and spent my childhood there until the age of 8. I then moved to Australia with my Father, Mother and younger sister.
So This is My Story...
Since I can remember, I have always had a passion for music. I grew up in a home where music played a big part. My parents were dancers, and my father Joe has always been very involved in the musical scene. He started out as a DJ and through that grew his love for music.
My love of singing started when I was four years old. My father used to write songs for my sister and I to sing and this is where my love of singing began.
Moving to Australia was a scary and challenging experience for me as I did not know English. This fear and change also created more passion for singing, as singing songs in English is how I helped myself learn the language.

Once I started to understand the language, I wrote my first song. It was called "DANCING".

As time passed I started High School I met a girl named Elissa who had a similar interest in music as me. In Year 9 we formed a group called 'Infinite'. We practiced when ever we could, including lunch times. We sung at many school functions and plays.
.
When we had performed for the first time on stage I knew that was all I wanted to do. Becoming a performer was my new goal and I was going to sing as much as possible.
After getting a lot of stage experience with Infinite I decided I had enough confidence to get out and perform on my own.
Still at school I was given an opportunity to perform in a competition called the Windsor Gardens Exchange which was run with another school in another state. Both schools competed in various competitions such as sport and music. I was asked to perform and sing in the music category for this event. Our school had not won the music category in 30 years, but this year was different and I was honored to be apart of the year where we finally took the trophy home.
Music began to take over my life. It was all I wanted to do and my life revolved around it. I sat down with my parents one day and discussed my goals, they promised to support me all the way with my music. The first step was to find a manager. Once I had Peter Findlay on board I was ready to go.
My new manager Peter along with my dad entered me in a singing competition when I was 16 at Dandenong Plaza. It was my first ever public appearance outside of school. Although I was extremely nervous the excitement took over once I was on stage.

And can you believe it... I actually won the competition.

After winning the competition, my parents wanted to get me out in the public eye and let more people experience my music. To help this happen they organized my first concert. They invited many people including the Mayor of Kingston, it was and amazing and hugely successful night.

I also invited others to sing. Elissa and Leanne, two very close friends, who sang back up and there own solo performance's. As well as a great friend of the family, Glenn Lindsey. The host of the evening was none other, then my dad Joe. Which took a lot of courage, and shows the support he has always given me.
After this my music progressed into something even more! I wanted more, I needed more!!!
I met a great man named Frank Sablotny, who gave me some great original songs to perform...
Meeting Roger Abboud at Dandenong plaza and again at my concert, he invited me to sing at his Midnight Revue Show at the Mercury Lounge, Crown Casino. Now this was massive...

My performance was even broadcast live on radio. My parents were so proud.
At this gig at Mercury Lounge, Peter Findlay invited along with him, Ross Fraser and Siew Ooi, two great Australian producers, to watch me perform. After the show, I got to meet them both, which turned into a record deal with BMG!
I got to record my first original song, with Siew Ooi, 001 Productions and made my first little video clip, which was made by Ross Fraser. I was 16. It was all very exciting... I felt like a superstar...
To then Improve my singing, to learn more about how to use my voice, I joined the David Jaanz school of singing.. Jaanz taught me a lot, and was a devoted and inspiring teacher.

Searching for original songs was quite a chore, as I desperately wanted to write my own songs. Peter Findlay introduced me to Alex Farrugia (my partner in crime). We started to write ad record many songs.
From this, one of our tracks was re-worked by Merril Bainbridge, which became my first single.
(Real to Me)

Now I had released Real To Me as a single with my first professional Video clip. Through this release I got my first live television broadcast on the Pepsi Charts (channel 10).
Following with Big Brother, Eviction Night
(channel 10).

These moments were fantastic and made me learn more and more about the industry. It opened my eyes and let me see and feel what it is I did and didn’t want to do through out my life in music.
Continuing my search for great songs and writing with Alex, I learned how to really express myself through singing.
Performing my original tracks throughout Melbourne's clubs I got a natural high, which created a natural means to continue writing and expressing myself through song.

Learning Choreography and working with great friends Leanne and Simone, I learned that performing is not just about singing. It's all of me!
Slowly as time passed, I didn't get as much time in the studio, as I would have liked, as 001 started creating other upcoming artists. So my dad and I decided to take it into our own hands and started writing and recording songs at home. Out of the many songs we wrote, we knew, we had a couple of great tracks. So I took them to Alex and he produced and re-recorded some of the songs. Now I started performing songs which came straight from the heart.
Spending less and less time at the studio was very disheartening, until Paul Curry (Lightstream Films) turned my true dream into a reality! Paul offered me an opportunity I could not resist. He let me have a listen to track called One Perfect Day written by Hobson and Buckle. The moment I heard the song, I got goose bumps all over! Paul also gave Alex and me the option of re-working this already beautiful song. This became what it is today.
One Perfect Day is the title track to a fantastic Australian film with the same name. Paul Curry then offered his skills and creativity to make an unforgettable Video Clip.

OPD was also released as a single through Universal and remixed by Paul Van Dyke, which was highly supported by Fox Fm! Kyle and Jackie O's support along with the station was something I couldn't have dreamed of.
The joy of singing OPD for the Good Friday Appeal (channel 7) made this journey even more unforgettable. The album of the film One Perfect Day consisted of artists such as- Elton John, Fat Boy Slim, Groove Armada, The cardigans and so on.... So you can imagine how I must have felt being apart of such a great album.
Unfortunately it all came to a sudden end. Through Conflict of interest between the record labels.
Though it was disappointing, I finally found my true calling. Along with the ballad the style which we created, made it real to me! (Pardon the pun)
From that moment on Alex and I teamed up with Rick Rui a fantastic guitarist, and we created songs like never before. The first song written and recorded through this path is called 'Voices' a very meaningful song, as it spoke about my journey!
My dad and I then again placed it in our hands and made our own video clip.

Many songs and many clips later, I discovered things weren't all as they seemed to be in the world of 001!
Unfortunately through certain conflicts it all came to an end. I was no longer apart of 001 nor BMG.
Through heartache and confusion this seemed all too unbearable... But my passion for singing could not be swayed!!! This could not be the end!
So I decided to put together a band consisting of all females. We were called Ravenisis. Another year of my journey which meant a lot to me, but also had to come to an end.
I then decided to get out and get myself seen and heard. Create some publicity for myself. So I entered Australian idol. An experience I could never really truly express, for it was an incredible roller coaster.

My performance on Australian idol, truly was that One moment in time, because I got to show Australia what I'm about.
Now that is my Story!!!
